do you have access to a pft account for your server? you shoud’t have an upload limit on it. upload your pdf file some where on the wp-content folder and just link it to your post by following the path http://domain.com/wp-content/folder/pdfname.pdf

uh, what is a pft account?
I will go try uploading the PDF to my wp-content folder and link it to my post by following the path you gave me.
I was wondering… all this talk about people using WP for content management systems… they must be able to upload big files?? I thank you. I really want to learn all I can about WP.
I think they meant FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Account.
Different servers and hosts are configured differently for Max file size. There have been some threads recently about how to change the Max WordPress upload file size, or you could try talking with your host and see if they can help.
yes, sorry misspell FTP. can can also change your max upload size using a .htaccess file if you are not on a IIS(windows) server.
php_value post_max_size 8M
php_value upload_max_filesize 8M

Thank you! I wasn’t being a smart-a** about the pft question. That is how much of a newbie I am on WP. I cannot get my profile to NOT say I am some sort of expert in it. Geez…
I managed, in the dead of night, to get a link to the pdf to work, but not in the body of my blog. The link works in comments I added. Weird, but I will figure this out.
I will study up on your suggestions. Going out of town for supposed vacation but will be checking here often.
Thanks again!
