• HI,
I wonder if I have to change the default image sizes in WP Settings, in order to double the pixel-size, for images so I will get Retina-quality? Nothing says that my theme is adapted for retina-resolution. And the max image-size is now 1024×1024 px for the actual theme. Would it be right to increase pixel-size to 2048×2048 px (in functions.php) and go with that?

Naturally also a corresponding change to the other image-sizes in the Media-settings.

This is important for the image-prep before import to WP.

  • You can increase the max-image size to whatever you want but your theme(s) may limit the maximum size that you can insert into a page or post. This is to avoid breaking the design with an over-large image.

    Esmi,
Have you heard of a method of increasing the image-size to the double but making a very hard compression of the image, which will give about the same file-size as a light compressed standard image? And it should work well on 2x resolution screens without adding processes to the web server.
