Thank you, @t-p, however, as you can see in my original post, I have already been to that page, and, given the additional information I found elsewhere, it has left me confused.

https://make.wordpress.org/core/5-0/ doesn’t say anything about an August release, but https://wordpress.org/news/2018/07/update-on-gutenberg/ says, “WordPress 5.0 could be as soon as August with hundreds of thousands of sites using Gutenberg before release.”

Perhaps you can see why I am confused.

If anyone could offer some clarity on this, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

It seems fairly straightfoward to me. As you can see on the development cycle the release data is “TBD”, to be determined. The news update says “could be” as soon as August. Could be. It hasn’t been determined yet. When it has the development cycle will be no doubt updated.

So August is a possibility but that is not certain enough to set in stone. That’s about as clear as you’re going to get at this stage.

When it’s done? The links you provided in your post are the right place to look. Dates slip and except for monitoring the sites you’ve mentioned, you are not going to get a good solid target date. Anyone who says otherwise is misinformed.

I think they don’t know yet
