How safe is WordPress

    Hi, I’ve just installed this application and must say it looks very nifty. I’m a little bit worried about the security aspect of it though. Is it possible to hack as such? wp-config.php is just sitting in the main directory with all my details for my database, it is possible for someone to see this? It’s just I know someone that uses it who likes to “hack” etc, wouldnt want him to get hold of all my details 🙂

    As long as you have WP v1.5, you’ll be fine.

    I seem too have that version. Is that safe enough even with the config file still there though?

    on mine, if i try to access that file through a browser, i get a blank page, im not a hacker, so I’m sure there are other ways to hack it, but basically, i think wp is as secure as the server you are hosting it on. as far as someone accessing your page through that file is concerned, i dont see how they could as it renders a blank page.

    the details are within the php code. so only something reading the php code can read your details, and that means your server (assuming the wordpress code itself is safe and there is no way to get the details due to some lazy/poor coding in there, which I dont think there is).

    as long as your server is setup properly, you’ll be fine 8^)
