Reeeeeally basic question and I can’t believe I can’t figure this out!
Someone helped me with my site and left over some folders like an “old-site” folder(I guess used for testing or backup or something from my old site), but now if someone searches on Google they can still get to this old site.
I’m trying to figure out how to redirect any search or link that does to that (temporary) site to the main page of my new site.
I figure this is easy, but I’m new to this and not sure what to do.
Like I want to redirect
wordpress.org/old-site/ (this page and all pages “under it”)
I tried using those above as examples, but no luck. Is there something basic I’m missing?
Thank you everyone-
Basically I did:
Source URL: wordpress.org/old-site/*
(and also tried wordpress.org/old-site/
Match: URL only
Action: Redirect to URL
Target URL: wordpress.org
Oh, I figure once I make sure the redirects are working I’ll just backup and then delete the folder. I keep trying to back it up to my machine but for some reason downloading the folder always fails when it’s 95% complete. An issue for another day I guess…
