    Hello,

I often work with the option to highlight a few words in a text in a different color. But it takes many steps each time to enter the desired Hex # color number. Currently I have only 1 preset color to choose from (black). Can I add another color in the preset colors, or change the black to another color? (Or any other way to change the highlighted color to a specific color).

Another strange thing I want to report about this item is: I can only copy paste the desired color number into the Hex # input field. When I try to enter my color number via keyboard, it ends up in a different color after typing 3 characters :
–> It works to enter FCB900 by pasting. But through the keyboard, after typing the first 3 characters FCB, it immediately and automatically becomes FFCCBB. No way to get FCB900 done by typing. I wonder how that comes.

Ofcours the question about presetting color is most important.

    Thanks for your attention,
    Greetings, Marc.

    Hi @marc7

You can add your own custom colours to the theme so you don’t have to select the same colour manually over and over.

Head to Appearance > Editor > Styles > Colors > Palette

In the Custom area, click the + to add your new colour.

Click “Done” next to your new colour, and then click “Save” at the top of the panel.

Your custom colour should now be available to select throughout the site, including in the colour-picker tool when you highlight words within a paragraph block, as you see here:

Would you be able to share a screencast showing this happening so I can get a better understanding of how to reproduce it? You can use https://www.loom.com/ or your preferred tool. Thanks!

    Hallo Kathryn,

    Thanks for your responce !
The tric was indeed to set the color in the ‘Custom‘ area. I had changed the colors in Theme as well as in the Default area, and those colors did not show up in the color-picker to highligt words in a text. But the presets in the Custom does that. I didn’t come up with that myself.

I have tried to upload a picture of the screenprint about the second subject, but don’t know how to do that in this forum. I used a new blok for picture, but it takes no opload, only URL-link.

    Glad that did the trick!

For screenshots, you can use a tool like https://snipboard.io/ and paste the generated link here, or use your preferred screenshot tool and upload the image to your Media Library.

Then, insert an Image block here by clicking the + block inserter and selecting Image.

Then, click “Insert from URL” and paste your Media Library URL into the block.

Thanks again, I am learning every day 😉
You can read the text in the screenshot …

Hopefully this gives enough information to have an idea of what I see happening.
It is strange and sometimes tricky, but now that I can adjust the preset reference colors I can move on anyway.

    Hi @marc7

You’re not alone in seeing this issue. I see it too when trying to write a hex color one character at a time, and it attempts to auto correct and fill the full color code.

The good news it that when I tested with the Gutenberg plugin activated, the issue seemed to be fixed, so this should not be an issue when this makes it way into core WordPress in a future update.

    @marc7 Thanks for the screenshot!

I was able to replicate the issue, and the problem does go away when activating the latest version of the Gutenberg plugin (15.0.1). So as @uxl said, the issue should be resolved once the Gutenberg updates are brought into WordPress core in the future.

I’ll mark this thread as resolved, since I believe all the issues have now been addressed. Feel free to start a new thread if you need help with anything else
