Hello. First, let me say that I LOVE wordpress.

I currently have a Joomla site with over 1000 members, but know that it will grow beyond that. Can anyone tell me how many users wordpress can handle? I want to switch over and have implemented a kickapps site to go into wordpress as well. So, I plan on using their Single Sign On too, if I can get it to work 🙂

  • The question makes no sense. WordPress can handle any number of users for which it has system resources. So the question you should be asking is, “I expect to have X concurrent users; what hardware do I need to handle this kind of traffic?”

I don’t know that the question doesn’t make sense, but okay, let’s say I have the resources, the adequate hosting, and the hardware is taken care of. I am just curious to know what some of the larger WordPress sites have in regards to users.

The largest WordPress site I know of is wordpress.com. You can take a look at its statistics here. On an average day,

    • over 8,000 new users sign up,
    • 700 or so existing user close their accounts,
    • existing users publish about 120,000 posts and 45,000 pages, and
    • the number of unique page views is in the neighborhood of 25 million…

yes I have to concur .. WP itself doesnt put limitations on that sort of thing. Limitations, if any, are going to come from other sources — ones already mentioned.
