How Long Does a Typical Response Take for Questions

    Hi,
    I’m new to WP and to this forum. I’ve followed instructions after reading several posts in the forum in order to gain knowledge and to help me construct a site, but I ran into a few problems. I’ve posted my question about 5 days ago at

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-blog-posts-to-static-home-page?replies=1

    but hadn’t received any replies. Can you tell me the typical response time for answers? Or, can someone direct me somewhere else so as to receive help? Thank you for any suggestions.

    It honestly varies, my friend. WP is open source, so the forum here is setup for the community. No one here gets paid for their services. The moderators are here to “moderate” the forums… pointing us in the right direction.. and making sure we follow rules.

    The answers typically come from other users who volunteer their time on here. Such as me. But, it helps me by helping others’. I learn new things I was perhaps unfamiliar with before.

    So, will all questions receive a response? No. Just do some homework… attempt to work it out on your own… and then re-phrase your question with your new experiences.

    I’ll take a look at your other thread now and see if I can help at all.

    Hello Bigfatty,

    I don’t think there’s an average time for replies because there are so many factors of why people don’t reply.

    A big mistake is bumping threads, because this takes you off the ‘No-Replies’ list and will decrease the chance of receiving help. I’ve exampled this when I was first starting out on these forums http://wordpress.org/support/topic/using-gallery-plugin-to-display-thumbnails . That’s a likely cause as to why my thread wasn’t answered.

    Thank you for the reply. Being new to WP, I guess I get a little anxious when I can’t figure out something out.
