  • WP Security Scan plugin strongly recommends it, but somehow I’m hesitating. I tried it via WP Security Scan plugin on a local testserver and it works easy. But how important is it realy?
    Thanks for any advice!

Important? It’s a layer of obfuscation and generally can’t hurt if you make backups and know how to restore them.

It really falls into a “nice to have”. It could prevent automated (read as: dumb) scripts from mucking up your install if it get’s access to your Mysql database without accessing your database settings from wp-config.php.

Of course, if the script that compromised your blog can read the database settings from wp-config.php then it’s game over. But again, it can’t hurt.

Thanks a lot, well yes, looks like a not really efficient precautionary measure.
