@backsliders – Are you changing the option under Gallery > Other Options > Thumbnail Options … *and* also changing the thumbnail size for the displays you inserted using the IGW (“green button”) in the TinyMCE editor’s visual tab?
New thumbnails created will use your new “default” but existing image thumbnails will retain the size(s) they were based on the settings you were using when they were uploaded and/or inserted into a post/page with their respective display type.
