Support » Plugin: Knews Multilingual Newsletters » how does this plugin compare to mailpress?

  • I’m a long-time mailpress user and very curious how your plugin compares to it.

I’ve had a quick look and here is what I am missing from Knews:

    – option to set up batch sending, i.e. send 50 emails at a time every 5 minutes
    – bounce system? needed to keep a mailing list clean
    – auto-responder
    – subscription settings to allow subscriptions to different newsletters i.e. per category? I see you have an auto-create newsletter option but how about being able to limit that to a specific category?
    – create a newsletter from an existing post?

    Hello Ovidiu!

Yes, Knews is a very young Plugin and much of the points aren’t developed for now… you can subscribe into our newsletter to stay in touch (in our website)

Batch sending: yes, is working, you can schedule submit, change priority, pause, etc. The amount of sending emails are: 2 / 10 / 25 / 50 / 100 (and 250 /500) in our next release every 10 minutes… if your SMTP can resist it 🙂

Bounce system and Auto-responder: not for now…

Subscription is by mailing lists, you can manage mailing lists as you want, but by categories is a good feature…

The automated newsletters hasn’t category filter, is really urgent develop it…

The newsletters are created trough getting modules from the template. Most of them can get one or more post content. You can create a newsletter with only one post and change the %the_excerpt_1% token to %the_content_1% token. However, Knews is intended to working in a feedburner-like/RSS/newsletter way or marketing way, manually or automated.

Please, feel free to suggest all you want.

    Best regards,
    Carles Reverter.

Thanks mate, I’ve subscribed to your newsletter on your site.

Please take a look at mailpress for some inspiration, its the most mature newsletter plugin for WP I could find. It works perfect, the only drawback is that customization of newsletters works via template files but once you have customized those its all automated 🙂

P.S. I host a friend’s site on a 10$ VPS and he is sending his daily newsletter out to about 8000 recipients with mailpress 😉
