Support » Plugin: Imsanity » how does Imsanity deal with thumb linked to original?

  • Resolved Piet Bos

This can be a very useful plugin, thanks!

I have one question before installing it and hopefully the developer can tell me.

I normally use (Easy)Fancybox to show images in a lightbox effect. For that to work I link the thumbnail (or whatever custom size of the image) to the original (large version).

Reading the introduction of the Imsanity plugin, the original won’t exist anymore, so how is this handled?

If I would have to go back in all Posts/Pages to adjust that link, then it will still be a great plugin to use, but only for new projects…

    Looking forward to your response.

Imsanity won’t touch any existing posts or images – it only resizes new images as they are uploaded. It would be perfectly safe for you to install it and then play around with it by uploading some new images.

As far as what imsanity does with the original file – it actually replaces the original with one that is resized according to whatever you set for the max width/height. In all other ways WordPress is the same – it still generates thumbnails and all of that. It’s just that your “original” is more reasonable sized file.

    Hope that helps!

That was exactly the answer I needed! Thanks so much for your quick reply. I am sure your plugin can benefit many sites for clients that don’t seem to understand that images of 5000+pixels are a bit too large for common website use 🙂
