    Hi Tom,

normally it works like this: if you choose Save & Import Image from URL, you will be presented with a two-step wizard: first you pick the URL you want to import, and in the second step you can add metadata like title, description etc. Once you save in the second step, the image should appear in your gallery.

    Does that work for you?

If it does not, here’s some info to troubleshoot the problem:

    (1) Does the image appear in step 2 of the wizard?

You should see a preview of the image in the second step of the wizard. See here:

=> If this image does not appear, you may have a problem with the internet connection from your server to the site you are trying to access. This can commonly happen with strict firewall rules on the server.

    (2) Does the file get created?

Check your media folder and see if a file gets created there. If not, you may have a permissions problem (this should affect uploads you make e.g. from your local computer as well – do those work?)

    (3) What other plugins do you have installed, and could there be a conflict?

If you find a conflicting plugin, please let me know so I can update the docs.

Hope this helps and thanks for your interest in my plugin!

    Thanks for the info.

I’m after navigational help… what do I click on to start using this?

I.e. how do you get to the first of your two screenshots at?

Is it in the Media Gallery?

I thunk it is old version of media upload library. There is no such panel or screen and we cant access the plugin interface.

    Hi guys,

this response is coming pretty late but I’ll add the info anyway:

To start using the Save and Import Image from URL plugin you need to be logged into the admin panel and currently editing a post.

Click on the “Add Media” button, like you would be trying to upload an image from your computer.

Then a modal window will open. Here you need to select “Save & Import Image from URL” to use the plugin. If you have a large browser window, there will be a menu on the left hand side where you can just click “Save & Import Image from URL” and get started.

If your browser window is not large, then you need to find a little dropdown icon on the top of the modal. This is a down arrow next to “Insert Image”. Click this down arrow and then select “Save & Import Image from URL” and you’re ready to import! Screenshot:
