Thanks for the reply.
I actually meant how to structure not what plugin to use for breadcrumbs.
Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear enough.
I actually meant structure in terms of categories, tags, url not code structure.
For example:
Home > Cars > Used > Toyota
How would you structure your site to achieve this breadcrumb look?
Do you put Cars as a category?
Used as the child category?
Toyota as a tag?
OR
Maybe you can structure your URL like http://www.cars.com/used/toyota? Will Google recognize and output the breadcrumbs to be like Home > Cars > Used > Toyota
This is what I’m not 100% clear about.
P.s: We’re definitely going to use a plugin 🙂
Breadcrumbs are not the same as your Permalink.
A breadcrumb is an internal code to trace the path backwards, such as what you posted “Home > Cars > Used > Toyota”
Your Permalink is what is in the browser address bar and is different, such as you posted:
http://www.cars.com/used/toyota
For SEO, it is better to use breadcrumbs within your site and to have the shortest possible URL, even for posts, so in your Permalinks settings, it is best to use /%postname%/

Here’s a site built on Woocommerce using Woocommerce default breadcrumbs…
https://pinballmedics.ca/product/white-comet-twin-2835-smd-6-3v-acdc-intense-brightness/
…the breadcrumbs are at the top.
Notice the difference between the url (address bar) and the breadcrumb (at the top of the item).
Breadcrumbs are much more comprehensive and built for people to follow their way back to where they were.
URL’s should be built for search engine bot indexing.
I totally understand about what is breadcrumbs and their benefits.
The question is,
How do you structure the site?
In the WooCommerce example you gave, their breadcrumbs is:
PARTS > PINBALL PARTS > BULBS > COMET TWIN 2835 SMD – WHITES
How did they achieve that? How did they structure their site to achieve that?
It comes with Woocommerce and is part of their Templates, which you can open here: Woocommerce Templates
@stanley Tan,
Great question. It was disappointing to see it wasn’t understood. Did you manage to find an answer? If so, would you please share it here?

It’s not being phrased correctly, can you try to avoid using ‘structure’ and rephrase the query?
