How do you set up Enhanced Media Library | WordPress.org

Hi
I just installed EML, but have no idea how to complete the settings. I’m not a web developer or coder, so words like ‘taxonomy’ or ‘MIME’ or ‘slug’ mean nothing to me. Is there a user guide, in plain English, to help me sort out the basic settings, which boxes I need to tick? I just want a really basic way to set up different folders in my media library in which to store different categories of images, rather than having them all dumped in the Media Library and having to scroll through them all. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Yeah a bit disappointing. When no-one got back, I found another plugin called Media Library Categories that did what I wanted and seemed more intuitive to set up. Here’s a link to the plugin. http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-media-library-categories/

Hello all,

Sorry, I wasn’t able to reply on this forum since I was seriously sick. It’s in my plans to write comprehensible guide for newbies, but after upgrade some plugin functionality and its website launch.

If all you need is just to create categories for your media, then simply activate plugin, go to the Media -> Media Categories menu and create new categories like you do it for posts.

If you don’t know what MIME Types and Slug mean, you just shouldn’t use them 🙂
