How do you Alphabetize Categories in WordPress Sidebars

How do you alphabetize categories in WordPress 2.0.5? The chronological listing of categories in the sidebar makes for a messy blog.

How do you get categories to alphabetize in the sidebar. What is the correct code to do this and what pages should one put this code on?

Would the code be placed on the sidebar.php page of a template? Does anyone have a sample of a file that accomplishes this? Or is there a category.php page where the tags would be placed?
