How Do We Speed Up YOP Poll?

    Good Evening,

    We just started using YOP polls throughout our website http://www.prephoops.com and have noticed site speed decrease considerably. After checking with our host they specifically mentioned the YOP Poll plugin as a culprit.

    Specifically, it looks like this is causing admin-ajax.php to load with extremely high frequency as it’s calling out to the yop-poll plugin and generating most of the load that is slowing the site down overall. At this point, I would consider either reaching out to the yop-poll developer and asking if they have a setting that will make admin-ajax.php used much less frequently.

    With that in mind do you have any suggestions to improve performance? We love the functionality and really don’t want to have to look for a replacement.

    I’m adding my experience to this post. I have discovered that the YOP Polls plugin seriously slows down my site if I add a poll widget to the sidebar, which is what I have been doing and hope to continue doing.

    I used http://tools.pingdom.com/ to test the load speed for my site with and without the sidebar poll and the difference is shocking. Without the sidebar poll my site’s load speed is less than one second. With it the load time jumps dramatically to almost three seconds! I tested this with different themes and on different sites I own that have a YOP poll in the sidebar, and the results are the same across the board.

    +1 for this. Making the same calls to admin-ajax.php and it takes about 6s to load the whole page. With the plugin deactivate it’s around 2s. It’s a great plugin, but this bug really makes it unusable

    When I activate the plugin (+widget on the side), it often goes on Error 500, no matter that how many visitors are on the site.
    But as soon as I desactivate it, everything goes smoother.
    admin-ajax seems to be known as a problem in wordpress, google it.
