To remove that button, you can use the small custom plugin from https://tablepress.org/downloads/extensions/tablepress-disable-editor-toolbar-button.zip
(It’s just a single-line that uses a plugin filter hook to turn off the button.)

We installed TablePress Extension: Disable Editor Toolbar button but the button is still appearing in the classic tool bar. Is there something else we need to do?

Ah, my bad. It looks like the site was still serving the older version 1.0 of the Extension.
Can you please try the download again? You should then be getting version 1.1, which reliably removes the button.
