  • Ok Simple Question… I think…

I currently have my Blog running, and I want to upgrade to a new theme, but before I release this theme to the world, I obviously need to tweak it and make modifications.

So how do I do this?

I haven’t been able to find a way to have a “Development” them in one area, that you can work on and modify, while allowing the older “Production” theme to keep doing its thing until the new one is ready.

Am I missing something here? It seems to me this is something a lot of people would run into. I’m not a big fan of making code changes to the “Live” theme, especially when sometimes it causes the theme to blow up.

PS: I realize I can make mods to the PHP code, but the question is how to view the works in progress, without having to make make the new theme the one everyone else see’s.

  • or if it should be a secret , install wordpress on a test folder on your space, backup the database and install wp again, but take another DB if this is possible.

or you can make a html page ( index.html/htm ) so all browser load this page and your index.php is working behind and u have time and the possibility to test, tweak and work without breaks

the theme switcher is certainly another good option, so its your choice 🙂

Install WP locally. Do all the tweaking /testing. Then upload the final version for the world to see.
