Look on this forum : this question has been answered thousand times…
It’s a fundamental question and it’d be helpful to have it in the FAQs for the plugin. Here’s how Mr.Friendly answered it in another post – “all you need is to put images in you articles, put them into a category then configure your plugin to use that category….”

Thanks for your response. Mr. Friendly is a good guy. I agree that a little more information in FAQs would be helpful.
I am using WordPress to create a static site. I have no posts, just pages. What I finally figured out was that I needed to create empty dummy posts, one for each images, just to contain the images. For these posts I created a category of SlideShow. Then in the Frontpage Slideshow options of each post, I specified the Home Page, where I wanted the slide show.

Well this plugin is used on 20k+ websites and less than 10 people asked about “how to insert pictures”… and a quick search on the form gives the answer… it was not a crucial point for me so… but yeah you’re right… should be on FAQ… but, in another hand, I am currently working on a new version that ease the use of this plugin as a pure picture slider…

oh and, yeah, even if sometimes my answers seems to be cruel and unfriendly, I prefer tell someone to take the habit to do a search on form before to ask, than answer 10 times to the same question. The next time, maybe (s)he will have the reflex to do so and don’t loose time to stand by an answer… I prefer to teach people how to fish than to give them fishes 😉
