How Do I Update

I am running version 2.9.2 of WooCommerce Product Addons. Version 2.9.3 is available. When I try to autoupdate, it fails. If I try to delete the plugin so that I can install the latest version, WordPress says it will delete the data along with the plugin. I don’t want to delete the data. There would be significant work to recreate it all.
Am I doing something wrong? What’s the proper way to update this plugin?

Current version is 10.9

1. Make backup of plugin and database
2. Deactivate Plugin, Remove Plugin
3. Install new download.
Data should be kept, because it’s stored in the database.PS, I’m an enduser, just like you.
