I just read this page ( which explains alot about permalinks….

but im still wondering how I actually turn this on?

I realize I need to put an .htaccess in my directory, but what do I write in the .htaccess file, is there a place in the admin of my blog to set this up?

Right out of the page you **just read**.

    Choosing your permalink structure

In the Options → Permalinks panel, you can choose one of the “common” structures or enter your own in the “Custom structure” field using the structure tags.

Options → Permalinks panel <– that would be inside wp-admin/

hi whooami thanks for your reply, I am sorry for such the n00b questions..

I am inside my wp-admin/ page and maybe im retarded or blind but I cannot see “options” anywhere…I see:
admin! | Log Out | Help | Forums

I also tried ctrl+F and searched for options with no luck.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, could it be my version (2.5) has the options link somewhere else or something?

    ok I found it now.

it is settings -> permalinks on my version.

Sorry, this is all new to my I started yesterday and theres alot of settings it can be overwhleming …..but thats a good thing..lots of features 🙂

options was changed to settings in 2.5.x
