• I’m starting up a new car review website and no one can leave comments on the posts right now. I’d like to do the usual, have people register with an email. I’m assuming I’m missing something very easy but I’ve scoured the dashboard and found nothing. Can anyone tell me how to turn it on? Thanks! TV

  • “settings” -> “discussion”, check “Allow people to post comments on new articles”

If that’s already checked, your theme might not have the comments function.

Hmmm… There’s a box at the end of the post asking for comments, even asking for people to log in. When I click it, it goes to the wp admin sign in. Went to “settings” and there’s no “allow people to post comments” box to check. Sigh….

Registered users have the same login screen as you. But if you’re on 2.9.1, settings and then disscussion has the options you want to look at.

Perhaps I was just up too late. When I went to check it this morning there is now a small “register” button where I didn’t see one before. Same with my forums. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Must have done something in my sleep…
