• I’m using a static front page, and have another page for Posts named Blog.

I’ve set the Blog page template to use the Full Page template, and have also checked the box that says Set Page to True Full Width.

But I still get the left sidebar on the Blog page, with its usual widgets.

    What am I missing, please?

  • Hi Esmi,
12 minutes ago, John (the person needing help) posted in this thread that he tried to update to the latest release of the Responsive theme (by changing to Responsive theme FROM the twentyfourteen theme that he has been using during this whole thread). It was a NEW release.

    that is “the” release.

Also, “we” is myself and the others who work with me here at LabZip…we have worked with Emil Uzelac (the original author of Responsive, and now the person who runs the WP theme approval team). Whenever Cyberchimps releases a new version, we test it.

So, the “we” implies that our team has checked to see that the latest update of the Responsive theme is not broken and will not cause any issues that would prevent this person from reverting back to using their Twenty Fourteen theme, or testing what we have been discussing this whole time.

    Hope this clarifies for you?

Then, as per the theme developer’s request, he needs to post in the theme’s dedicated forum: http://cyberchimps.com/forum/free/responsive/

    Hi Esmi,
as I just suggested, he is having trouble with his Twenty Fourteen theme. That is this forum.

He merely turned on Responsive to see a comparison of features, and got stuck.

Are you suggesting as the moderator here that someone must switch to a new thread on a new forum each and every time they test something that breaks there site?

So if he turned on the Yoast SEO plugin and it broke his twenty fourteen theme, you suggest he should then stop the thread mid-stream on this forum and move the whole dialogue to a fresh on on the Yoast SEO forum?

Please advise… you’re in charge here, just trying to understand your rules πŸ˜‰

If they are using a new/different theme, yes.

Yes. That’s how these forums work,

ok, so then when we get him “unstuck”, do we have your permission to continue talking here about the problems with his twenty fourteen theme where we left off?

Well, I think I understand the point here, and am happy to start a new thread, about the Responsive theme, but may I leave this one open in case I have to revert to Twenty Fourteen and have any further issues?

I’ll start a new thread shortly – have to do something else for as while first.

    Of course you can! πŸ™‚

    Thanks Esmi!

John, since this thread is now at a “hold”, feel free to use the alternative solution we discussed. I’m here when you need help.

    Cheers!

    Thanks.

Well, I’ve tried to open a new topic on the cyberchimps Responsive Free forum, but am getting an error message:

“Connection error. Signal loss at 1.21 Gigawatts. Time machine status unknown. We’ll be right back”

I’ve registered, and logged in, and the error is repeatable, but says it may be temporary. Will try again later tonight.

And BTW, I’ve deleted the responsive theme folder, then successfully downloaded and installed the latest v1.9.2 of Responsive Free.

Please try waiting a while. I am sure the Cyberchimps forum will be back online shortly.

    (@johnwmcc)

    OK. Will do.

    (@johnwmcc)

Correction: the version of Responsive I have installed is 1.9.6.2, not 1.9.2

The cyberchimp ‘new-topic’ page is still unavailable, so my post will have to wait.

I’d like to switch to the Responsive support website, but at the moment, I still can’t get access to the page cyberchimps.com/new-topic. The support techs for the hosting company for the cyberchimps.com website are looking into why that is, but haven’t yet solved my problem of inability to start a new topic there. I can see the rest of the cyberchimps site, but I still can’t start a new topic, even after registering and logging in.
