Support » Fixing WordPress » how do I reassign multiple posts from Uncategorized to something else?

  • If a “category” is deleted by mistake, and posts previously assigned to it fall-back into the (default) “Uncategorized” category, is there a way to reassign those specific posts into an existing “category” name?

or do I have to go to Manage, select the post and reassign each one manually? is there an easier way of doing it all in one sweep? currently, I have 300 posts under “Uncategorized” and want each of them reassigned permanently to the category “Life” – is that possible?

  • Go into your category management and change the name of “Uncategorized” to “Life”

What if I want to remove the category “Uncategorized” from all posts ?

Also, Life was already default…why did it then assign to Uncategorized..?

i think there’s a plugin i just heard about called “batch conversion” – try searching for that in the codex or on google… that might help.
