    Greetings Helpers!

    my site is http://www.yellow-llama.com.

I have a category called 'fractal interpretations' in which a mate of mine records song lyrics etc from his band.

i have set this category as a child of the parent category 'music'

I want to add new posts to this child category, without having it display on my main index page..

    how can this be done?

    appreciate your assistance

It's going to depend if your list is called with list_cats or wp_list_cats

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/list_cats
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_cats

In either case, you need to set the "children" option to False.

Thanks very much, although I'm not sure if that's the answer I need tomhanna....

You know, regardless of what category you post a new entry in, it displays on the index page right?

Now what I want, is to add posts to the category 'fractal interpretations', without displaying the posts from that category on the index page.. know what I mean?

    Is this possible?

Ah, I misunderstood what you were trying to do. Sorry. I think this is what you need:
