How do I "move" the main content in default theme? (4 posts)

    Hey guys, I just started using wordpress recently as a quick and easy way to get my website up and running (Weekly Weeklies)

    Anyway, I started nerd-moding and going through all the files, looking up how to do whatever, I have some experience in HTML and I'm a quick learner. As you can see, I've successfully edited the background, theme images, etc, and as I was doing these things I had a few basic (I hope) questions:

    1. Why is my header image being cut off at the top?
    2. How do I get rid of that white border around the already designated curved black border line?
    And, lastly,
    3. How do I move the content down? I wanted more of the background image showing at the top, but the header and page gets in the way.

    I'm sorry for asking all this here, normally I'd just look it all up on google, but I've exhausted myself and I could sure use some help if these are relatively easy fixes.

    Thanks,
    awjustaguy

  2. 1. #header was restricting the height to 200px;
    2. #page was 2px wider than #content, and #header had 1px margin-left;
    3. increase the margin-top on #page;

    a few subtle adjustments:

    #page {
    	background-color: white;
    	margin: 100px auto 20px auto;
    	padding: 0;
    	width: 758px; /* changed from 760px */
    	border: 1px solid #959596;
    	}

    #header {
    	background-color: #73a0c5;
    	margin: 0 0 0 0px; /* changed 1px to 0px */
    	padding: 0;
    	height: 225px; /* changed to 225px */
    	width: 758px;
    	}

    and then edit you background ;-)

    Hi,

    My best advice is: Get Firefox and then the free Firefox addon Firebug. You can then click anywhere in your site and see what piece of the css influences that piece of your site and you can even make changes but not save them, so it is safe to practice.

    So for the header image in your style.css:
    under #page change the margin-top to 0; (zero)
    and under #header change height to 225px;

    I'll leave you to the rest.
