I am using the matala theme and have added quite a bit of custom design to it. Everything looks great on my computer, but I had someone else look at it and on their screen, the title “Melissa Ellens Loft” was cut off and the picture to the right that says “grab a cup of coffee and stay awhile” was stretched way out.

So, I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to make sure what I see on my computer will adapt so that no matter what everyone else sees, it will be the same.

Unfortunately there is not a simple or easy answer to that question. These days, many themes are designed to be “responsive” and automatically work well on smaller devices — through special CSS code that changes the layout and formatting of the site according to the screen size and/or device.

It looks like Matala is not really designed that way. But even if it was, if you make major changes to the CSS layout code, you may mess up the responsiveness.

So you basically have two options — find another theme that is responsive and looks better on smaller devices or start learning a lot about responsive CSS — and recode the site (not easy if you are new to CSS or HTML). Of course, you could also live with it as is or consider hiring someone to do it for you.
