I’ve already made a website site and coded it in HTML and CSS. I need a really good tutorial or some help on transforming it into a full functional WP theme. my website at the moment is a WP theme but I cheated and changed another theme to make it.

All help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Changing another theme is not cheating. As long as you use a Child Theme based on a well-coded parent, it’s very often the best way of doing it.

On the more general point, if you just Google for ‘WordPress theme development’ you’ll find loads of resources. You’ll probably want to start with the official documentation. If you have specific questions after looking at those resources, you can post it back here and we’ll try to help.

There are also loads of books around on WP theme development, of course.

Ok great! Thanks for that I’ll have a read up on it now.
I’ve managed to cut my HTML file into header.php, footer.php, sidebar.php and index.php and preview it and it all looks good. I’ve just got to add in all the code to make it show my posts.
