How do I limit my blog to subscribers only

  • I can see there is a category of blog user deemed subscriber, but I don’t see how to configure my site so that people must request a subscription. Is this even a good idea?

The problem I have is comment spam and I do not have the time to moderate all the spam comments I get. I’m thinking if I only allow access to people who have to go through a subscription process that should eliminate a lot of spammers.

  • There are several useful plugins to cut down on spam without requiring viewers to be logged in.

One I use is SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam.

Thanks, but I need to understand the administration tools. How do I find the administration tools?

I don’t see how to configure my site so that people must request a subscription

Settings -> General. Uncheck “Anyone can register”.
