Hi, probably really stupid question but Google Analytics completely overwhelms me and I’m trying to make sure my website is GDPR compliant.

I’ve enabled the 3rd party cookies tab, and inserted my google analytics script in the header tag. I’ve added { ‘anonymize_ip’: true }); to the end of the script before </script> to make sure GA isn’t storing any personal information.

How do I know if it’s working? For instance, until someone ‘accepts’ the cookie banner, it shouldn’t be tracking anything, right? wrong?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Charlie

  • Hi,
As I can see, even my Firefox is in Do Not Track your website add 13 cookies without any choice by me.
In a second way you don’t use the GDPR cookie compliance plugin but the Cookiebot, so I think you have make maybe a mistake where to post your question.
If you want to see wich cookies are available, just click on F12 key when you are on your website and it will be show you the active cookies. Be sure to clear the cache after every modification or the cookies will be still here.

    Bye

    Hi there,

Thanks for your comments. Thanks @yelopoint for the note, the GDPR cookie compliance plugin is not used in your site @charliemariephoto.

You can follow the steps as instructions:
    1. Remove the Cookiebot plugin
    2. Install GDPR Cookie Compliance plugin
    3. Move all the hardcoded scripts added by plugins or by your theme to the GDPR plugin relevant settings fields and setup the plugin

Please note this plugin is just a template and needs to be setup (you might ask your developer) in order to work properly. Once setup fully, it will prevent scripts that store cookies from being loaded on users computers until consent is given.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry I had switched to Cookiebot to see if that’s any easier but it isn’t.

I’ve reinstalled your plugin now. I desperately need some help this is so hard to set up for small businesses! I can’t afford a developer I don’t know how I’m supposed to be GDPR compliant when I’m not a developer and can’t afford one 🙁

I need to be able to:
    – See all the cookies my site uses
    – Categorise them by strictly required vs third party
    – Enable prior consent – so block all third party plugins until user accepts
    – Put an acceptance button in a banner for users that ‘works’

I don’t know how to find these scripts my plugins use. I don’t know what plugins store a cookie and what doesn’t

How can I locate this information?! Please help!!!

    Hi @yelopoint

Thanks for your answer to help this user, much appreciated 🙂

    @charliemariephoto

Unfortunately, we cannot provide any more assistance.

You will need to do a full GDPR cookie audit on your site and then setup our plugin properly.

We do offer a personalised bespoke setup of the plugin but this is a paid service. If you are interested, please email plugins@mooveagency.com

Sorry we can’t be of more help.
