• Hi, I’m new using wordpress, and I have a doubt. I need to know how can I hide text from search engines. The thing is, people search in google and usually my entry appears first, but they see the info they need from google, so they don’t enter. Is there any html or plugin I could use so that this text is hidden? I mean like a “rollover to see text” or something similar.

    Thanks!

  • If your blog is number 1 in Google, count yourself very lucky!

Admin/Settings/Privacy. Check “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”.

As for hiding text from search engines, the only 100% reliable way to do that is not to put the text on the web in the first place.

But can’t I add an html or javascript code that says “click to view”?

    Not that I know of…

where do you want to have this option? In search results? No this is not possible.

Google only displays a few lines in the description field, what content do you have that reveals itself in it’s entirety in those few words. Anyway you can prevent the good stuff from being revealed prematurely by using you own custom meta description. Download the all in one seo pack plugin and for each of your posts type what it is you want people to see in the meta description box in your posts pages (that the plugin will create). After that the description in google will be what it is you typed.
