Support » Plugin: WordPress.com Stats » How do I get WordPress.com Stats to point to the correct website?

  • I’m a web developer working on a client’s self-hosted WordPress site. She currently has one website http://www.carolineadderson.com which features adult and kids books. She wanted to create a second site so that the OLD site would only be adults books and NEW site would be kids books.

    To save time, I duplicated her current site and moved that copy of the WordPress install, template and all its data to http://www.carolineaddersonkids.com (site is still under construction).

    WordPress.com Stats was already installed on the old site and when I duplicated it, the stats on the OLD site began pointing to the NEW site. So, even when viewing Site Stats on the OLD site, it shows the stats of the NEW site and refers to those stats as “Caroline Adderson Kids” instead of “Caroline Adderson” as it should be. Also, if on the NEW site (even after reinstalling the plugin with a new API key), it shows legacy stats from the OLD site.

    How do I split these apart properly? Is there a way to reset things without losing any of the legacy data from the OLD site?

    http://www.carolineadderson.com (OLD site)
    Wordpress = 3.3.1
    Wordpress.com Stats = 1.8.5

    http://www.carolineaddersonkids.com (NEW site)
    Wordpress = 3.3.1
    Wordpress.com Stats = 1.8.5
