  • Hi Mentalsuite,

thanks for using MH Magazine lite.

What exactly do you mean with “rectangular block”? Do you mean the slider widget? If you want to have a front page layout based on widgets as shown in the theme demo, you need to create and set a static front page, assign the Homepage template to your static front page and then place widgets into the Home widget areas as you like.

In the theme documentation you can find all necessary steps in order to configure your theme correctly: MH Magazine Documentation.

I’m talking about the little slideshow right in the middle. You can click skim through different posts. It’s in the main screenshot of this theme. How do I get that big block in my blog? I just have a list of recent posts…I want that slideshow…and I also want my site to look similar to the preview.

Also, what is a “child” theme?

I’m talking about the little slideshow right in the middle.

That’s the MH Slider widget and you can configure your site like that by following the instructions from the previous reply.

Also, what is a “child” theme?

A child theme is a customized variation of a WordPress theme. Basically a theme with code modifications to look or function differently in comparison to the parent theme. You’re currently running MH TechMagazine on your website which is a free child theme for MH Magazine lite (parent theme).

So, do I have to pay to get what I was asking about? It’s the large slideshow type thing near the top of the home page.

No, actually you just need to read and follow the instructions in the theme documentation (create static front page, select Homepage template for static front page, place widgets, …) in order to configure your website.
