Other Than plugins there is no other work around! 🙁
Cuz My website is already heavy on plugins and this will reduce the web experience for the users. :'(
You can do that without plug-ins but I don’t think you could expect great advantages. Of course this means that you have to code something that does that.
Listen, everybody, or quite, use plug-ins for related posts, it’s not a “simple” thing create that kind of feauture. We’re not talking about the visualization part, we’re talking about the “how to relate N posts?” part. Cache results, or not… and other beautiful and fun things 😛
Is it worthwhile?
Of course there are some expensive and some cheaper (in terms of resources load). Some more content-oriented than others… etc
