Support » Fixing WordPress » Archive plugin

  • Hi,

I’m creating a new web site and the client has asked me to create a table for items on offer each month, showing the item name, normal price and offer price, which they can update each month, and which will store previous months for anyone to look-up.

The web page with show a table of that months offers, with a “Month” drop-down (at the top) for previous monthly offers.

They wish to be able to enter each month’s data in wp-admin by selecting the item from a drop-down list of about 120 items, and then adding the two prices.

I’m at a loss as to how to do this, and can’t find a plugin to suit. Can anyone please give me suggestions or pointers to a plugin or how it can be done?

    Many thanks,

    Sal.

  • I think you will need a custom post type to store the data for their products, or a custom field. IMO it’s going to have a lot of custom coding. But maybe their paid or free solutions for this.

What have you tried? As in what plugins.

    Thanks for the replies.

I would be very happy to pay for a plugin if I could find one which would be suitable.

I’ve tried https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdatatables/ and it creates tables fine from (eg) csv file of data but it doesn’t allow data to be entered via a UI into database fields, nor does it allow for sequential months to be added.

When I search for “create wordpress custom database” or the like, I just find pages about WordPress database itself. When I search for “wordpress price plugins” or “wordpress price tables” I just find plugins to display pricing tables like https://wordpress.org/plugins/pricingtable/. When I search for “wordpress product item database”, results are around woocommerce. Even searches -woocommerce doesn’t help, as I still end up with product catalogues etc. Unfortunately my searches need me to use terms which are too generic. 🙁
