  • I am new to Wp and don’t know how to do this.
I am building website for a small newspaper that wants to put their print adverts online. I am using Advanced Newspaper Theme from Gabfire – and it has built in advertising module that allows me to paste in ad code and manage ads. I will be using images (jpg’s) as the adverts and they will pop-up in a lightbox effect. I want to use the ad manager built in as it allows me to run ads for a specific time period automatically.
I don’t how to write ad-code for these internal ads.
    Does this make sense?
I need to be able to paste ad code in for our own internal image based adverts and have them pop-up in a lightbox effect. Do I create the ads in dreamweaver?
Any ideas? It is probably very simple for an experienced WP guru.

  • I’d be really suprised if the ad module you use doesn’t use posts as it’s content, you say it needs some kind of special code that needs to be written per add?

If the adds consist of only images and text, each add could be a post an displayed in innumerable ways. posts can be set to expire.
Nothing fancy, any theme can do it.

At risk of sounding presumptuous, I’d say you may be making this harder than it needs to be.

also, lightbox for post images is no problem, many plugins for that. I beleive you can even show text and some code in the image description feild, and have it show in the lightbox.

Okay, I see you have a premium theme. So you should obviously try to use whatever system it has. Unfortunately unless someone is familiar with the theme, particularly the “add-module” may be hard to get help on this forum. You should also post your issue on the forum for this theme.

Thank you for that and yes; maybe I am making it too complicated. Unfortunately; for some reason gabfire won’t allow me to register for their forums – coming back with invalid URL on their own link – but yes; it would be better if I could find out through the people who created it. I’ll chase it up – cheers and thank you

    good luck:)
