Support » Themes and Templates » How do I create a single.php template?

  • Resolved royc

Hello. I am using a drastically hacked version of the “fspring_widgets” theme and WP 2.5.1, and I’m loving it, but this theme lacks a “single.php” file (using the “index.php” template in its stead). I’m finding that a lot of things I’d like to further customize in this theme would be much easier if I had a “single.php” template. Is there a How-To somewhere I can look at? What do I need to do besides creating and uploading such a file (e.g., where do I “call” it in my code?)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Peace today,

  • Simply create a file called single.php with the contents of your current index.php file. Then add whatever customizations you want to the single.php file. The changes should be reflected across all your single blog post pages.

In the interim, that’s exactly what I did. Thanks.

I didn’t know it was going to be so easy. :]
