How do I create a Page Template?

    I’ve been reading a lot of topics about how to add posts of a certain category to one page (so one blog page with all posts, and then different pages such as ‘music’ and ‘events’ where I just want to show posts from that specific category).

    In order to do this, different topics on this forum suggested I should create a different page template (page.php) for every specific page: so for example page-music.php and page-events.php. I get the idea, but (sorry for not knowing this) how on earth do I create a new page template?

    @anniekdenboer,

    Annie – Check out the Template Hierarchy and Stepping in Templates

    Those 2 pages may make your eyes bulge at first, but the more you can soak up from those pages, the more independent you can be.

    May not be the exact answer you want, but if you’re going to get into creating templates, you need to know the foundation.
