Support » Fixing WordPress » How do i copy my WP blog to my localhost and run it?

  • I just opened filezilla and copied the whole kit-and-kaboodle from my website to my local machine. I just wanted to see if I could bring my blog from the WWW to my pc to learn how and practice backing up / reestablishing my blog if something ever goes wrong down the road.

So, I copied the whole thing over and the error I get when I command:

is a resounding 72pt font: Error establishing a database connection

    My questions are these:
Did I copy my db over to my pc when I copied the whole folder over?
Where is my db or db file? I don’t know what I’m even looking for.
How to I point WP to my db and have my localhost serve my blog on my pc?

    my blog is at

My goal is to serve it on my localhost the same way you would see it if you were on the internet.

Am I in the ballpark? or am I hundreds of miles away from being able to do this?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you very much,
