Add <!–more–> to your post where you want it to cut off and show the read more link.
Thank you. WP will know to continue it, right?

it should insert the more tag
Thank you. About to test …
Nope. Here is a copy of how it appears on my site:
hair.
<!–more–>

use this button when editing/creating some posts
or you can use the HTML tab when editing the post and add
<!--more-->
I used <!–more–> but it appeared as above. Is there a setting I have to change to enable it to work?
I tried your link — thank you — but it just put in the image. Do I place that where I want to continue? Do I have to figure out the URL? Using the more ink, it does it automatically (or should, if it worked).
Thank you. Years ago that made sense as I coded. Now … I need to know why my more tag doesn’t work or I risk the same thing happening.
It is frustrating to have lost all that knowledge
.
I need to know why my more tag doesn’t work
You are pasting it in the VISUAL EDITOR part of the text editor. Paste it in HTML and it will work just fine.
Ahhhh. That makes sense, but on this iPad, I don’t see where the choice is. On my PC it is at the top of the text box.
Ok, on my PC now. I view it in HTML as
one for me.
<!–more–>
“Pack of Newports.”
I click View Post
one for me.
“Pack of Newports.”

I don’t see why it isn’t continuing after cutting off unless a setting somewhere is wrong.
It is an adult-oriented story site but no posts yet. All stories are in draft mode until I figure this out and redo the sidebar.
