 * Whilst I understand and accept support staff are volunteers. Nonetheless the
support I have received regarding my issue about importing my .com xml export
file into my new .org site was been very substandard.
 * The site I am transferring is the culmination of 2 years of hard work that involves
writing, promoting, and money to transfer to .org.
 * Given the international reputation of WordPress as being a leader in blogging,
the length of time WordPress has been around and given transferring to .org to.
com is fairly common I would expect a large knowledge base on issues associated
with importing an xml file from .com to .org.
 * It is my hope someone from WordPress will contact me regarding how to complain
and provide me with a realistic solution to my isuse.
 * Finally it is my hope WordPress will do a better job screening the volunteers
to ensure they have technical knowledge including coding knowledge, database
knowledge, and network knowledge. Also it is my hope WordPress will improve their
documentation on transferring from .com to .org to discuss common issues that
may be encountered and how to solve them.

 * 1) I don’t think WordPress will contact you.
    2) We are all volunteers, this
is a forum, we all register and give our opinions to problems, to most problems,
there are many ways to solve them. 3) There is no “minimum knowledge” to be an
user on these forums. I am knowledgeable on something and nothing on others,
no one is an “expert” on everything. 4) There is a reason why you are told to
BACK UP whenever you update things or do hard coding in situations like this.
   5) Since you are getting WordPress for FREE…support is FREE, if you want something
specific, you could…you know…hire someone to fix your site: [jobs.wordpress.net](http://jobs.wordpress.net)
 * No one here has to answer your posts, technically speaking. If things didn’t
work out with someone helping you out, someone else can help you out.

 * I don’t think you understand quite the difference between WordPress.com and .
org. WordPress.com is an actual organisation with staff, and they support the
WordPress.com software (completely different from WordPress self-hosted sotware).
WordPress.org is just a central point where the community come together to support/
   maintain the self-hosted WordPress software.
    The WordPress project on WordPress.
org was started by Matt (owner of WordPress.com), and then it was made open to
the community. This means that there is no organisation that owns it any more.
   It is an open-source project.

 * Like with any volunteer-driven service, if you’re ready to criticise you should
also be ready to pick up a mop and bucket and help improve it (start replying
   to other people’s threads):
 * There are many topics that don’t even receive a reply: [https://wordpress.org/support/view/no-replies](https://wordpress.org/support/view/no-replies)
 * Be very grateful for the ones that do reply and don’t insult the people who are
   responding.

 * Welcome to these community-driven forums, and it is with all respect that I let
you know there is virtually no chance of anything like that ever happening.
 * > …it is my hope WordPress will do a better job screening the volunteers to ensure

 * You venture to say that after having registered here just three days ago?! I
spend a *lot* of time on these forums, and you could not have possibly in that
amount of time observed more than a very-small percentage of the overall number
people, including myself, voluntarily offering contributions here. And as to
screening anyone, that would only relate to the few here who happen to have special
   buttons for moderation.
 * > Also it is my hope WordPress will improve their documentation on transferring

 * Since wordpress.org is a hosted website that does not host any other websites,
you might find a better perspective helpful here. Transferring from wordpress.
com to any other host can at times be a complicated process (especially if doing
that on your own) because of how wordpress.com handles certain things, and how
anything at all might be done at wordpress.com is completely out-of-reach for
wordpress.org. WordPress.com has a paid service that can do that, and many receiving
hosts also offer various types and levels help or support there. But beyond that,
about the best and the most you will ever find here in these wordpress.org community
support forums is the shared experience of others who have been through what
   you are trying to do.
 * Welcome to the world of self-hosted WordPressing.

 * Hi,
 * Just a heads up that threads like this often result in frustration on both ends,
and although we encourage discussions of problems that arise within the community
be aware that if it does get to a point where it’s just negativity and anger
going back and forth, we will have to close the thread.

 * And the volunteers have always been outnumbered by the people asking for support;
hence why there’s a million threads with no replies. Narrowing down the volunteers
in a screening operation is not going to help :p

 * > And the volunteers have always been outnumbered by the people asking for support;
 * I would capitalize upon this opportunity to commend the many of you who make
the great efforts you do. It must be quite challenging at times to try to compile
your years of knowledge, experience and thoughts into just a few words or sentences
comprehensible by others such as myself who want to do things and need some help
or advice, but then do not always know or understand all the terms being used
that at times even describe terms being used.
 * I spend a lot of time in this ragged old chair of mine here in front of this
screen to avoid the back pain that begins as soon as I rise, and it is always
delightful whenever I see others like myself being shown things from people who
often do not even get a response in return…but then I do know you know your stuff
worked if directions were followed. I might never get to such a point myself,
but I am grateful for the example and vision set before the rest of us by yourself
   and others.
