How do I change the post text color in twenty ten?

  • Hi, I’m new to CSS, but I have some html and coding experience so I’ve been able to figure out some things.

I’d like to change the color of the Title Post – “Traders Beware..” – and the color of the black text in the sidebar. How do I do that? The theme is twenty ten.

I’m working on this site: http://www.oriordan-law.com/wordpress/
(The site is sometimes slow to load. Not sure why…)

    Thank you for any help.

Don’t edit the Twenty Ten theme. Your changes will be over-written the next time you upgrade WordPress. For this reason, it is recommended that you consider creating a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

i don’t mind doing that, but i’d like to change the post title text color, first, just to get this blog rolling. Could you please point me to where the customization is for post title color?

I’m really new to this. I’m just looking to tweak some changes in the style sheet. I understand what you’re saying about the child theme, but some customization already went into the theme by someone else and they didn’t use a child theme.

Please, I just want to make these small changes to the site and, then, I can worry about making it more reusable with a child theme.

okay. i’m creating the child theme… I put the style.css in it. Do you recommend copying the entire theme or is style.css enough?

Okay. I activated the child theme. How do I change the post title text color?

Not sure of the proper terminology. Story header? Not the text color itself.

Also, how do I change the black text in the sidebar?

    Thank you

    Try adding:

    #content .entry-title,
    .widget-title {{color:#c00;)

to your child’s stylesheet. I strongly recommend that you use Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of work.

okay. i’ll look for the firebug add-on. anything to make this a little easier.

Does that snippet of code also change the color of the Post titles?

((Wow. Firebug is sweet. Tnx for the tip. It’s going to take me a bit to learn how to use it.))

If I understand Firebug, it looks like I need to change the color of
    .entry_title.

    Is that right?

That sounds about right to me.
