How Do I Change Pages Around

I have several “pages” on my homepage.

I just added a new one.

I want it to be listed first after the link to “home.”

How do I move the order around?

  • Will assume that the template tag, wp_list_pages(), is being used in your theme’s template file to display the list of Pages.

If “Home” is actually a Page, then look at setting the Page Order in Manage->Pages so the the Home page has the lowest Page Order setting, then use the sort_column=menu_order parameter with that template tag.

If “Home” is not actually a Page, look at the appropriate template file and look for the ‘hardcoded’ reference to “Home” and move it to the desired location.

Just for information, in 2.7 (to be release in Nov. 2008), a template tag, wp_page_menu(), will provide the option to add Home to the list of Pages, even if Home is not an actual Page.
