  • which option is best for me to use?

any one of them should work. Whatever you feel more comfertable with

I feel extremely stupid as i am unsure on what to do in order change everything.
I changed my site url the other day although I lost the website and couldn’t log back on. I managed to sort it in the end but I am a bit apprehensive to make the same mistake again. Please could you help me a bit more and give me some guidance, as this is the first time I have had to change the URL/domain.

first, try the wp-config.php option. It should be pretty easy. wp-config.php should be located in your WP root folder. Before you modify the file, make backup of it, in case.

I tried this but it hasn’t worked it doesn’t seem to redirect the website to the new domain

    1. What have added to the wp-config.php ?
    2. Where in that file have you added?

Try adding above the “stop editing” so it looks like this:

/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

This does not seem to work for me, is it wrong?
