[Resolved] how do i change footer height in twenty-eleven child??

  • Hello!
    I’m trying [desperately] to dramatically increase the height of my footer image in my child theme. Does anyone know the css to do this? I inserted a new footer image and it has somehow become much smaller than the original footer image – strange no?

    Please advise!
    Thank you ~ Kel

    It doesn’t look like you have any content in the footer?

    <footer id="colophon" role="contentinfo">
    <div id="site-generator">
    <a title="Semantic Personal Publishing Platform" href="http://wordpress.org/"></a>
    </div>
    </footer>

    But you could set a fixed height here:

    #site-generator {
        background: url("http://www.sergiosalina.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/sergiowoodfooter2.jpg") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
        height: 200px;
    }

    You might also want to check on some mark-up errors:

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sergiosalina.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

    no i don’t have any content yet.
    I’m trying to increase the height of the colored image and then place the footer content on top – can i do that?

    yes you can do that put height attribute auto so that you widget get fit in footer.try it….

    #site-generator {
        background: url("http://www.sergiosalina.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/sergiowoodfooter2.jpg") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
        height: auto;
    }

    Thank you,
    Yet it is still the same and i can’t see the writing that i put on the bottom of it.
    I’m trying to get some major height on it 🙂

    but you not put any widget in footer.if you put widget in it height of footer and image increase automatically.try this

    #site-generator {
    background: url("http://www.sergiosalina.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/sergiowoodfooter2.jpg") no-repeat top center transparent;
    height: 393px;
    }

    try this sorry for not getting your problem

    The content will CREATE height – that’s generally how height works.

    That’s fabulous!! worked great – thank you very much!!
    the very best ~ kel

    Hey there!
    i tried this on my other site but for some reason it did not work?!
    same template and version

    http://www.meditatelove.com

    i put the code in the child css
    #site-generator {
    background: url(“http://www.meditatelove.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/test4footer.gif”) no-repeat top center transparent;
    height: 90px;
    }
    what could i be doing wrong?

    That code is working fine – but the image file path is evidently not valid – try it:

    http://meditatelove.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/test4footer.gif

    i looked at that. yet that is where the image is and the name and extension is correct.
