How do I add new child theme elements to accent color customizer?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently working on a theme for a friend of mine. I’m editing everything using a child theme on a localhost [with DesktopServer]. If you need to know, I’m using the text editor “Brackets” for mac.

I’ve created a search bar element for the theme, and adjusted the colors to suit the current ones, but I’d like the color to be customized using the existing accent color customizer in the wordpress theme [this customizer already affects things like links, and certain elements when hovered].

I managed to track down the customizer php file that lists which elements are currently affected by the accent color customizer option…but after specifically searching for this type of problem in the forums, I have yet to know just what to do.

Any help would be awesome, and if you need me to upload/link any files please let me know!
