How do I add google adsense to sidebar?

    I searched and cannot find info on how to add google adsense to the sidebar, can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

    Your theme’s sidebar.php file would be my first guess. Probably copy and paste the code in there.

    Well I did an edit in the theme admin, and it is there, now I would just like to get it to the same width as the rest of the sidebar

    i am currently using wordpress default theme

    May I know where exactly should i place the google adsense ad in the sidebar.php ?
    i tried but doesn’t work.

    please advise the exact position. Thanks.
