[resolved] How can you show only part of the entire newsitem on the frontpage? (3 posts)

When you post a new newsitem on your blog, it will show up as 1 chunk of text on the frontpage, but each newsitem gets its own page.

If I want to write 3 pages of text in a newsitem, it can get a bit too lenghty for the frontpage. So what I'd like to know is if there's a plugin/option/code that will allow me to only show the 1st page or first couple of sentences of that newsitem on the front of my blog, and when you click the newsitem's own page, it will show the entire newsitem. (Like when someone comments you can view those on the page seperate from the frontpage.)

You can use the "more" Quicktag or you can use the Excerpt (if you have Advanced Controls turned on in Options->Writing).

In some cases, your Theme's appearance might need changes to incorporate either more or the excerpt.
