Using WP2.0, is there a way to “clear” the formatting of text within the post editor? I really like the wysiwyg editor, but sometimes I’ll copy and paste text in, and it will retain the copied formatting, which I don’t want. I always end up having to go to the HTML and hand clean it up. It seems like on 1.5, there was a plugin that had that option…I’m just wondering if there’s a good way to do that in WP2 that I’m missing. Thanks!

There is the undo (Alt U) but if you want to ‘unformat’ the whole post guess you could select, copy, then paste into something like Notepad. Then select, copy from there and paste back into the post.

We are having the same problem. We actually removed the WYSIWYG editor from version 2.0.2 becuase when pasteing text from various sources it was taking forever to manually remove the font formatting from other sources (and we are trying to make it as simple as possible for our writers).

I noticed that the text box in eSnips does in fact clear the formatting of the text when you paste it in, and then it allows you to format text with their WYSIWYG editor. I assume that means that tere has to be some sort of solution.

To be honest, the best way I’ve seen to clear formatting before pasting it into the WYSIWYG editor is to first copy/paste it to notepad (or similar text only editor) and THEN copy/paste from notepad to the editor.

Doh, I guess that’ll work. I thought TinyMCE or something had a “clear formatting” button option, and maybe it was just disabled. Guess I’ll have to keep hoping and copying and pasting!

We have code that we have been playing with that clears HTML automatically but are running into a few snags, anyone interested in lending a hand? contact me or reply
